WAC Europa

Europa tiene una amplia y diversa selección de proveedores de servicios para el VIH que varían en tamaño y alcance. También tiene un grupo de interés especial tal como el proyecto de SIDA y Movilidad; y el Grupo Europeo de Tratamiento del SIDA que actúa además como base para algunos grupos internacionales como el GNP+ y el ICW.

A pesar de la riqueza en cuanto a experiencia y conocimiento de varios grupos, ha sido desafiante establecer una colaboración nacional y paneuropea. El primer vehículo para promover la colaboración fue Eurocaso, parte de la red ICASO. Recientemente se ha reemplazado por la creación de AIDS Action Europe (AAE, por sus siglas en inglés, que significan Acción contra el SIDA en Europa) que ahora representa a Europa en las reuniones de ICASO, pero se formó originalmente para crear una voz a nivel europeo dirigida a las políticas internas de la Unión Europea sobre el VIH, en un momento en el cual la cantidad de miembros de la Unión Europea crecía rápidamente.

A nivel de país ha aumentado la colaboración en cuanto a apoyo y campaña, particularmente en respuesta a las necesidades de las comunidades en los países del sur. Esta colaboración puede tomar varias formas diferentes y en muchos casos puede ser el resultado de un acuerdo de una organización local de VIH de trabajar con una o más agencias de desarrollo internacional en la recaudación de fondos, concientización pública, apoyo conjunto y campañas, o la combinación de cualquiera o todas las opciones de la lista.
