WAC
The World AIDS Campaign (WAC) has been recognised as playing a unique role within civil society by supporting a strong social movement on AIDS that presses for promises to be kept.
Between 2008-2010, The World AIDS Campaign will work to promote accountability, uniting campaigners around a common campaigning effort, under the slogan “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise”. The campaign will continue to galvanise civil society efforts, both at a national level, and among key international, constituency-based networks[1], to support the call and increase pressure to achieve ‘Universal Access’ to HIV care, support, treatment and prevention.
Alliances and partnerships with others are key to this effort and there is a need to ensure that communities in the most affected parts of the world speak out and are heard regarding the failure to fulfil AIDS promises.
To accomplish the strategy the WAC will focus its efforts in three priority areas.
1) Supporting national AIDS campaigners;
2) Strengthening constituency-based networks in campaigning ; and
3) Providing access to resources to facilitate their campaign efforts.
